Mediation works by helping people who have decided to separate or divorce, or those who are trying to deal with changes in family relationships, to talk things through. We will help you in an impartial way, find your own solutions to the issues that arise in your family.
What sets our family law mediation service apart is the way in which Angela can combine the mediation service with over 20 years family law expertise, making her a ‘lawyer-mediator’; a trained family mediator and a qualified and highly experienced family solicitor.
How does it work?
You can both meet together in a safe, private and calm environment with your mediator. We can help you make informed decisions that are right for your circumstances, your future and the future of your family. Mediation helps children by helping parents to work together to plan for their future. We will help you reach practical solutions that work for you.
How long will it take?
Successful mediation generally takes between three to five ninety minute sessions. You can consult your own family lawyer at any time alongside the mediation process to help you make your own decisions.
Mediation can provide a cost effective solution for you and often the mediation process can result in lower fees than proceeding through the traditional court process.
The MIAM (Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting)
Although mediation is a voluntary choice, since April 2014 most people wanting to issue family court proceedings are requested to attend an initial meeting sometimes referred to as a ‘MIAM’. We can provide this meeting, and make sure your needs are properly assessed.
We are able to offer evening and Saturday appointments (by prior arrangement). Please call for a no obligation chat in the first instance to see if mediation could work for you.
