Helen Fairest

Director & Chartered Legal Executive

I qualified as a Legal Executive in 1998 and joined Mewies Solicitors in 2009, having spent many years dealing with all aspects of residential conveyancing in city-based firms.  I became a Partner in May 2014, and a Director in May 2017.

My principal role is to sort out the legal ‘paperwork’ associated with buying and/or selling residential properties, including buy-to-let, new builds, affordable homes and Help to Buy transactions.  In addition to providing general advice and assistance regarding residential property matters, I also handle remortgages and property transfers as well as equity release matters.

I always do my best to make the conveyancing process as smooth and as swift as possible.  I strive to build and maintain good working relationships with clients, local estate agents and other property professionals.  It always helps when all parties involved in a conveyancing transaction are cooperative and working together towards the same end goal.

I pride myself on the specialist advice and background knowledge which I can bring to clients who are buying or selling a property.  Moving home is typically an exciting yet stressful time so I use my expertise to try and minimise any unnecessary stress by being proactive; keeping the process moving and generally keeping on top of things.  I always respond quickly to any questions asked of me in a clear and concise manner and always try to do so in plain English, avoiding legal jargon.  Clients often comment on how friendly, down to earth and efficient I am, so I must be doing something right!
