From 1st May 2017 the firm will revert to operating as Mewies Solicitors, and on the same date will incorporate as Mewies Solicitors Limited. The firm joined the QualitySolicitors national network of independent law firms in February 2011 and will leave at the end of April 2017.
Christopher Jackson, the firm’s Senior Partner said, “During our six years in the QualitySolicitors network we have developed as a practice and find ourselves well equipped now to stand alone. We will continue to build on our excellent levels of service to local people and businesses, in Yorkshire and nationally. Saturday openings are very valuable to our clients and we will continue to provide this service.”
The general practice firm has 3 directors and 25 staff operating out of Clifford House, Keighley Road, Skipton. The firm was founded in Skipton in 1960 by Jack Mewies, whose son John Mewies was Senior Partner until recently and continues as a Solicitor and Practising Consultant at the firm.
Christopher Jackson added, “the QS network has grown and changed over the years, as we have as a firm. We pride ourselves on our name and reputation and the time is right to move forwards as a modern practice with traditional values. With additional ‘tools in the box’ we are well equipped and positioned to continue to thrive for another 50 years and beyond.“
Nick Howitt, Director of QualitySolicitors Network, said “With a revised model bringing new benefits to our members, we now have lots more interest in where the network is going. We continue to recognise that law firms are diverse, and our past, current and future model will not suit every business. As a valued longstanding member and supporter of QualitySolicitors, we wish Mewies all the very best with their next steps.”
