Christopher Jackson
Director & Solicitor
I qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 whilst working in my home city of Manchester. I joined J P Mewies & Co (as Mewies Solicitors was then known) in 1989 and became a partner in 1992, and a Director in May 2017.
I specialise in private client work which encompasses preparing Wills and administering the estate of someone who has died (Probate), and advising on the management of the affairs of people who cannot do this for themselves, by preparing Powers of Attorney or obtaining the appointment of a representative by the Court of Protection.
I also create and manage trusts and advise on Inheritance Tax issues.
I am a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Law Society Private Client and Property Sections, and Solicitors for the Elderly. I believe in adopting a holistic approach to the provision of legal advice and have achieved the innovative ‘Older Client Care in Practice’ Award from Solicitors for the Elderly.
Private Client work often raises issues relating to property so in addition to my main area of practice I have considerable experience in dealing with residential and commercial conveyancing and tenancies.
I am also a member of the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship and am actively involved in my local church where I am Secretary and part of the Youth Ministry Team.
